Two-Color Knit Vest

Skill Level: Intermediate. Turtles are knit from two-color chart. Yarn Suggestion: Best with a fine to medium weight yarn. My fine cotton vest is only 8 ounces. Will need up to 12 ounces if working with wool, and depending on size.
 

This vest was inspired by an ancient Native American Hohokam design. I made mine from natural colored cottons. The yoke on this vest is super easy because it is knit all in one piece. Shape is created by decreases.

Lace Knit Vest Pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate. Uses double moss stitch, followed by an easy, charted lace pattern. Yarn Suggestion: Good with any weight yarn. Will need 6 ounces or more--just knit till you run out.
 

This vest is easy to knit from the top down. You can make it as long as you wish - just keep going until your yarn runs out. It is begun at yoke and shaped with simple increases (like a modified raglan). I used texture and lace patterns on my vest.

Lace Knit Vest Pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate. Lace on this vest is quite simple with charts to follow. Yarn Suggestion: Best with a fine to medium weight yarn. Will need approximately 6 to 12 ounces, depending on size. Start at the yoke and knit down, first in a simple faggot lace, then in a feather and fan pattern. This vest is wonderful in a light cotton, or linen yarn. If made with cotton, and to a length below the hips, it is a perfect beach jacket to throw on over a swim suit.

Knit Scarf Pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate. Uses numerous knit-purl texture patterns. I use it in knitting lessons to teach the value of the purl stitch.
Yarn Suggestion: Best with a fine to medium weight yarn. Will need approximately 5 to 6 ounces, depending on size.

This scarf uses ten patterns combining the knit purl stitch. Perfect for the knitter wishing to increase skills. Looks great too!

Lace Knit Scarf Pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate. Many lace versions.
Yarn Suggestion: Best with fine to medium weight yarns. Will need approximately 5 to 6 ounces, depending on size. I have been fascinated with lace scarves lately because they are the perfect project for my spindle spun yarn. I love to spin exotic (and expensive) fibers on my little spindles, and a lace scarf is the perfect medium to show off all my little bits of yarn. These patterns give numerous options for lace scarf.

Colorful Sock Pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate. Looks harder than it is. All color patterns are charted and very easy.
Yarn Suggestion: Best with a fine to medium weight yarn. Will need approximately 5 to 6 ounces for socks. And another 5 to 6 ounces for gloves.
 

Knit Mitten Pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate. All those fingers are fun to do.
Yarn Suggestion: Best with a finely spun yarn. Will need approximately 3 to 5 ounces, depending on size.

Tired of knitting socks from the top down? Here are instructions for doing them the other way. The advantage is that you can get the foot done, and then make the cuff as long or as short as you like.
